A 20 Year Love Story That Built a Company.
Spiritual foundation, romance and intimacy, encouraging and being there for each other on a daily basis, showing your love and sharing your thoughts and feelings all will take your marriage to a new level. Life’s a journey, take time to play together and enjoy the ride!
Susan and Mark Ryerson have had an amazing journey of loving. Their passion for encouraging healthy marriages comes from their own life experiences. Romance is one of the fundamentals to achieving a happy life together and although it takes a bit of effort, the payoff is huge! “You don’t have to be elaborate to be romantic. You don’t have to rent a chopper and circle the Eiffel Tower in Paris or float along the streets of Venice, you can simply begin with sharing your thoughts, saying I love you, leaving a note on the mirror, making the effort to throw some flower petals on the bed, writing a poem or simply telling them what you love about them. Taking the time to show your spouse they matter and that they are the most important person in your life, yes even more than your kids, will help give your marriage the foundation to last through all the stages of life.” Susan Ryerson

Susan and Mark on their 4th anniversary
Susan and Mark know how important it is to be a loving and connected couple. They spent their 3rd wedding anniversary at a Christian Marriage Retreat and it changed their marriage for the good forever. They learned the amazing love of Christ and how His love pours out through them onto each other. Their marriage was built on this foundation. They learned how to communicate and share the past and experience God’s healing. On this Rock, over the past 20 years they have overcome challenges including five miscarried pregnancies, raising teens, moving, death of parents, changing jobs, health issues, financial ups and downs, and more. Mostly they’ve enjoyed wonderful experiences and lots of laughter. Susan and Mark helped raise two teenage girls at different times throughout their marriage. Both girls came from difficult home situations. It was a challenging but wonderful experience taking each of these girls in and providing a loving and stable environment at a time when they needed it. Many times Mark and Susan were faced with difficult parenting situations. They would run to their room and say “ok, what do we do? Whatever we decide, we agree and stick together.” Teens are challenging and had their marriage not been on a solid foundation to begin with there may have been trouble. But they stuck together, made the time to put each other first on a daily basis and enjoyed the experiences.

Susan and Mark on their 15th anniversary
Susan and Mark have lived in states from East Coast, Mid-West, and Southwest throughout their 20 years together. They are best friends and enjoy supporting each other through life, work, and fun. They both love exploring the desert, traveling to new places, volunteering and helping kiddos and hanging out together. Introducing each other to different hobbies, food and interests have contributed to countless memories and lots of laughter.
One of Susan & Mark’s romantic traditions is drawing a State from a bottle (all 50 states inside) and going to that state to renew their vows. 15 states have been the place of their renewal and honeymoon! They have fun researching and planning what they will do in that particular state and taking the time to renew their commitment to each other every year makes this a very romantic tradition that keeps them newlyweds even after 20 years. This tradition made it in Redbook’s Most Romantic Traditions!
